A Kaduna State High Court has fixed October 4, for ruling on the bail application filed by the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zinat.
Zakaky and his wife are standing trial for alleged homicide.
The presiding Judge, Justice Gideon Kurada, adjourned the matter after counsel to the defendants, Mr. Maxwell Kyon, moved the application for the bail of the first and second defendants.
Journalists were prevented from wåitnessing the proceedings of the court as they were not allowed into the court premises by security personnel.
But speaking in an interview after the court sitting, Kyon said the defence counsel had filed a bail application to the court and the prosecution had also filed their response.
He said the ruling on the bail application had been fixed for October 4.
“We have moved an application for the bail of the first and second accused persons and are optimistic of getting bail for our clients,” he said.
Also speaking with journalists after the court session, the prosecution counsel, Chris Umar, said the third and fourth respondents had been served through newspaper publications.
