President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Thursday at the State House, Abuja met with Senate President Bukola Saraki and four state governors behind closed-doors.
After the meeting which lasted for just about 30 minutes, Saraki declined to answer questions from journalists.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not known, there was a suspicion that it might not be unconnected with controversies generated by N242.4 billion supplementary budget submitted by the president to the Senate on Wednesday.
The president had asked lawmakers to take over N164 billion out of their allocations for constituency projects and appropriate such allocations for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) budget for the conduct 2019 elections and restore other budget cuts made earlier.
Governors present at the meeting were Katsina State governor, Aminu Masari, Zamfara State governor and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Abdulaziz Yari, Kebbi State Governor Atiku Baguda and Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
