Eid-el-Fitr: Police Deploy Personnel in Praying Grounds

In a bid to forestall the breakdown of law and order as the governorship campaign gathers momentum, the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Bello Ahmed, has deployed security in all the Muslim praying
grounds across the state.

The commissioner, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, said the command will put up good security architecture to prevent the ongoing electioneering in preparation for the July 14 election by all the parties.

The statement, signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer Caleb Ikechukwu, warned thugs and miscreants to eschew violence during the eid-el-fitr celebration, threatening that the command will deal decisively with trouble makers.

The police felicitate with Muslims across the state, urging them to pray for the success of the forthcoming governorship poll during the celebration.

He said: “We assure the good people of Ekiti State that police shall be alive to their responsibility during this celebration.

“We are fully prepared to deal with hoodlums, political thugs, and other disgruntled elements that may cause panic among the public during this period and we will collaborate with sister security agencies and all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful hitch-free celebration.

“To this effect, the command has deployed enough officers and men in all praying grounds and venues of events in the state.

“We extend warm regards to Muslim faithful and other citizens as they celebrate eid-el-fitr and we enjoin them to pray for a peaceful conduct of the forthcoming governorship election.
