Croatia Will Qualify ahead of Nigeria, Argentina in Group D, Says Mandzukic

Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic believes the team has the quality to scale through the group stage hurdle at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Zlatko Dalic’s men are in Group D with Nigeria, Argentina and Iceland.

“We’ve been talking about our chances for a long time, and we all know that we have a good team with good individuals. We have our goals, and we have what it takes to take first position in the group,” the Juventus forward told Croatia’s official website.

“We all have the intention to do something big, but we are not the only team that wants to achieve something, so that desire needs to be shown on the field.

“We qualified for the World Cup when it was hardest, and now we have a common goal, we are all focused on the first game, and the main thing now is to prepare for the game.”

The Vatreni will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their first game on Saturday at the Kaliningrad Stadium.
