Dogara Donates 600 Bags of Cement To Victims of Windstorm In Bauchi

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon  Yakubu Dogara, at the weekend donated building materials to the victims of the recent windstorm which destroyed number of houses, schools and killed three people  in 11 villages of Duguri district, Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.

The Speaker represented by a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon Aminu Tukur, who said items donated, including 300 bags of cement and 100 bundles of zinc, explained that the gesture was aimed at bringing succour to the victims. 

While commiserating with the victims and families of those who lost their lives as a result of the disaster, Dogara advised residents of the area to plant more trees and avoid unnecessary deforestation in order to forestall future recurrence of the incident.

Responding, the District Head of Duguri, Alhaji Ibrahim Y. M Baba, represented by his council member, Alhaji Ibrahim Sarki Yaki, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed appreciation to the speaker for the gesture, saying it would help reduce the pains of the victims.

He revealed that aside the houses and schools destroyed, the windstorm also destroyed over 100 electric poles thereby disconnecting the area from the national grid.

Baba assured the Speaker that the items would be fairly distributed to beneficiaries, calling on other well to do individuals to also assist.

THISDAY learnt that Dogara also made similar donation to the victims of heavy downpour and windstorm in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state.
