Visionscape Group, CBN Mark World Environment Day

As part of activities to mark the United Nations 2018 World Environment Day (WED), Visionscape Sanitation Solutions delivered a strategic presentation on polymer resource recovery at an event organised by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Held annually by the CBN to commemorate WED, the event featured discussions around the WED global theme of the year ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ as key stakeholders deliberated on ways to enhance sustainable practices in the Nigerian corporate sector.

Visionscape’s participation was designed to flag off a long-term partnership with the apex bank in a bid to create solutions to plastic pollution from source and find alternative means of retrieving old polymer notes from the economy. Speaking on the partnership, Head Corporate Communications, Visionscape Group, Motunrayo Elias, stated that a collaboration with the CBN would support key UN sustainable development goals.

She said, “We are growing the recycling industry in Nigeria. Our collaboration with the CBN supports global climate change targets to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse by 2030.”

Speaking on the partnership, Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele said: “This game-changing celebration will provide an opportunity for the CBN to renew its commitments towards the implementation of the Nigeria Sustainable Banking Principles and the achievements of the UN’s sustainable development goals and the Paris Climate Change Agreement because a reduction in plastic use will bring about reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and our carbon footprint.”
