Enugu NUJ Mourn

The Enugu State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has declared a seven-day mourning period for one its members, Mr. Uwakwe Abugu, who passed on in an Indian hospital last Monday. The late Abugu, was until his death, the Chief Press Secretary to Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Addressing members of the union shortly after the earthly remains of the departed colleague was deposited at the morgue of the 82 Division of Nigerian Army, hospital, Enugu having been flown in from India, Saturday, the state Chairman of NUJ, Mr. Rex Arum said all members of the council have to wear black band or ribbon on either their left or right hand to signify that “we are mourning our departed colleague.”

Top Government functionaries including Mr. Laurence Ani, SSA Research and Documentation to the governor, Mr. Chris Isiguzo, Vice President, South East, NUJ, Kenneth Ofoma, NUJ Zonal Secretary, as well as journalists n Enugu state received Abugu’s remains at the airport at about 1pm. Meanwhile, the burial arrangement is to be announced by the family later.
