Protesting Shi’ia Members in Abuja Burn US, Israeli Flags

Protesting members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) in Abuja yesterday burned the flags of the United States of America and Israel.

The group, which congregated at Berger roundabout said it was protesting the killings of the Muslim brotherhood in Palestine and the continuous detention of their spiritual leader Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky by the Department of State Service (DSS) since December 2015.

Some of the placards the protesters carried read: #FreeZazyzaky, #FreePalestine, ‘Down To America’, ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘Free Zakzaky’.

The protesters matched to Julius Berger roundabout, from the National Mosque shortly after the Juma’t prayer, and were met by stern-looking policemen. The sect members shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as they danced round bonfire, disrupting human and vehicular movement, causing traffic congestion on the Wuse Market Road.
