Troops Kill Four Boko HaramTerrorists In Ambush

The troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have in its ongoing clearance mission in parts of the North-east, killed four Boko Haram terrorists.

The Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, Thursday said the troops of 192 Battalion killed three terrorists in an ambush.

Nwachukwu said the forces successfully staged against marauding Boko Haram terrorists along Lokodisa village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Acting on reliable intelligence, he said the troops staged the ambush in the early hours yesterday, neutralising the terrorists after a gun duel.

“The troops also recovered three Dane guns, five bicycles and a trolley,” he said.

In a separate encounter, Nwachukwu said troops of 145 Battalion deployed in 8 Task Force Division Area of responsibility have killed a Boko Haram terrorist at Gashigar in Abadam LGA of Borno State.

He disclosed that the terrorist was killed during a failed attempt by fleeing terrorists to escape through an identified route used by the insurgents.

He said the troops also recovered one AK 47 rifle and one magazine loaded with 25 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition from the insurgents.

The deputy spokesman said 38 returnee refugees from Zigage in the Republic of Cameroon were also on Thursday received by troops of 3 Battalion at Gamboru in Ngala LGA of Borno State.

“The refugees comprising 11 men, six women and 21 Children have been profiled and handed over to officials of Gamboru Internally Displaced Persons camps,” he stated.

In another development, a Nigerian Army personnel attached to 120 Battalion, Gonori, Yobe State, successfully disarmed an armed robber along Lafia – Makurdi road.

The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brig-Gen. Texas Chukwu, said the incident happened at Daudu in Guma LGA of Benue State in the early hours of Wednesday when the vehicle in which the soldier was travelling was attacked by a group of armed robbers.

Chukwu however, said the soldier sustained an injury during the process but was able to dispossessed the robber of a AK 47 rifle and five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

According to him, the soldier is currently receiving medical attention at the military facility in Makurdi.
He assured all law-abiding citizens of continuous protection of lives and property and enjoined all to be security conscious.
