Thani, Enikanolaye Lead Dignitaries to Ogidi Day

Communication specialist, Mr. Tunde Thani and a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaye, are among dignitaries expected at the Ogidi Day Festival holding in Ogidi, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State on June 16, 2018.

Thani, who is the Managing Director of Explicit Communications Ltd, a Lagos based integrated marketing communcations company would be the Chairman of the event while Enikanolaye, the immediate past Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs would serve as the special guest of honour.

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who will be the chief guest of honour is expected to declare the festival open, while the world renowned batik artist and Yeyeoba of Ogidi, Mrs. Nike Okundaye will present the new yam to the Ologidi.

The Ologidi of Ogidi, Oba Rabiu Oladimeji Sule will also on the occasion, confer chieftaincy titles on Thani, the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isah and a Lagos-based banker, Mr. Victor Alewo Adoji
The National President, Ogidi Development Union (ODU), Mr. Kayode Eniolorunda, in a statement said the new Olujumu of Ijumu, Oba Segun Ayeni will serve as the royal father of the day while a distinguished son of the community and Oliha of Ogidi, Chief Abiodun Ehindero will be the father of the day.

A long standing friend of the community and National Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Kola Ologbondiyon, who will be presented with an excellence in service award will be the most honoured guest at the festival.

Eniolorunda said the best of Ogidi culture would be on display at the festival, which is held in June every year to commemorate the coming of the new yam.
Visiting troupes from Ondo, Edo, Benue and Plateau States will also treat guests to various cultural displays at the event tagged Nigeria’s biggest culture event in June.

Eniolorunda said the community would at the event launch aN250 million fund for the reticulation of water in the town, provision of an ambulance and power generating set at the cottage hospital and the construction of a new community centre in the town.
