Lagos: Foundation Awards 17 Leaders in Ajegunle

Success in Leadership Conference (SILC) in partnership with Hall of Fame awarded 17 leaders in Ajegunle city Lagos for their immense contributions to the development of the society.

The annual award, which honoured persons from all walks of life, targets those who had trailed the blaze and distinguished themselves in their chosen careers and in the society.

The Convener and Founder of SILC, Mr. Ifeanyi OluebubeJesus, (a pastor) expressed: “This year’s award celebrates those who set the pace and served the people.”

From government officials, Arm Forces, business world to ministry, the convener emphasised that leadership meant servant leaders. “That is what these awardees have portrayed”.

According to him, people should enter into leadership with an intention to serve and not to be served. He continued that leadership was about serving.

Now, a recipient, Chairman Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ifelodun Chapter Lagos State, Mr. Paul Kolawole, said the award “means do more. People are watching”.

Recognised as Man of the Year, he said although he didn’t know the reason he was deemed fit for it, he was sure they saw something.

“This award shows that, ‘We have seen what you have done in the past. Now, we need you to do more’. The organisers have done really well,” he lauded.

Reacting to the award, Head of Administration Ifelodun LCDA, Tunde Ojukutu, said: “For one to be singled out for an award, it shows that people are watching you. And it is a challenge to do more.”

Urging such to continue, Ojukutu told THISDAY that people were more encouraged when they are noticed; adding, he said it would spur them to do more.
