FRCN Seeks Partnership with Sports’ Ministry’s on Russia 2018

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has expressed intent to partner the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development during the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia.

This was made known on Tuesday in Abuja when the Director-General of FRCN Mr Liman Mansur and other top management staff of the corporation paid a courtesy visit on the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung.

The DG who was represented by the Director Finance and Administration Mr Michael Oluwole commended the Minister for steering the different sports federations under his ministry to greater heights.

“We have been following with keen interest, the activities of the Ministry, working tirelessly to achieve the mandate which has been applauded by all and sundry.

“We commend you for how you have been driving the various National Sports Federations and how you have been able to cushion most sports crisis while achieving credible elections which were not influenced by anyone.

“The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria has been collaborating with the Ministry from inception and we are ready to give you our platform for the World Cup commentaries and reports from Russia.”

Responding, Dalung thanked the delegation from the FRCN for their visit and partnership which has gone a long way in uplifting the people and uniting the nation.

He promised to strengthen the partnership while urging the FRCN to continue in its contributions not only to national development but also to Youth investment including support for the ‘Not too young to rule bill’.

“We look forward to strengthening and having a more robust relationship. The FRCN has a great role to play in shaping, redirecting and re-modeling the thoughts of Nigerians towards youth development. We must generate a change of national conversation around this issue. We need to approach youth development sincerely. The National Assembly must vote money for youth development and we must have programs and policies that will help to engage our young people.

“The World Cup is a sports event and FRCN are the official media organization and if there is anyone who will speak for us at the event, it has to be the official media.”

Dalung assured the management of FRCN of his continued support to sports partnership and applauded the corporation for its objectivity in news reportage.
