Work has resumed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi following the suspension of the six-week industrial action embarked upon by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU).

The National Chairman, JOHESU, Mr Biobelemoye Josiah, announced the suspension of the strike following the intervention of the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

A visit to the hospital Tuesday showed that the complex which had been a shadow of itself for over a month was once again bubbling with life as workers moved about delivering services.

A patient, Mrs Anazoka Patience, who spoke to THISDAY at the outpatient ward of the hospital, said she decided to return for treatment on hearing that the workers had suspended their strike.

“I brought my child back, after withdrawing him from this hospital a month ago. We were just here, and there was no one to attend to us, so we had to leave. My child is almost better now, but we need to complete his medication, but since this hospital is cheaper than the private one where we were, we decided to come back here,” she said.
