Sokoto Distributes Food Items, Clothing Material to 2,000 Vulnerable Women

The Sokoto State Government has distributed food items and clothing materials worth N23 million to over 2,000 women with deformity and vulnerable children.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Women Affairs, Hajiya Aishat Muhammad, disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Sokoto, Tuesday.

She said the beneficiaries include women suffering from leprosy, HIV and blindness among other sickness as well as orphans.

According to her, women serving various jail sentences would also benefit from the gesture.

She said the beneficiaries  were selected from the three senatorial districts of the state.

Muhammad stated that the gesture was to enable them celebrate Sallah festivities with ease.

“As you are aware, the food  items and clothing materials were distributed under a strict supervision and monitoring to avoid diversion.

“It has been a yearly affair in the ministry and each of the beneficiary would be given money for sewing the clothes,” she said.

She therefore, commended Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his sustained support and assistance to the ministry as well as vulnerable women and children in the state.
