COAS Tells Army Housing to Put on Hold Apple Island Development

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Tukur Brutai has asked the Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL) to put on hold its proposed Apple Island development.

The NAPL planned to build its Apple Island development on a piece of land reclaimed from the Lagoon on the south side of Banana Island in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The COAS’ intervention followed altercations between NAPL and the residents association of Banana Island who believe the proposed development would disturb the serenity of their precious island.

Real estate practitioners claim that land values in Banana Island is artificial and overpriced, saying there was really nothing of real value to support it. Land here is as high as N370 million for 100,000sqms. Parts of it get flooded from storm-water.
