Katsina NAWOJ Boss Admonishes Women to Collect PVCs

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Katsina State on Saturday admonished women in the state to get registered, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the nation’s electoral process come 2019.
This is even as it urged those who had just attained the required voting age of 18 to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in their respective wards and local governments to register for their PVC.
The Chairperson of the Association Hauwa Ibrahim Jikamshi, in an exclusive interview with THISDAY reminded women that the PVC is their voting right and power to determine their future and who will govern them in their best interest .
She, however, said that there are reports that millions of PVCs are in the various INEC offices in the 774 local government areas that are yet to be collected, hence the need for women who have registered and other eligible voters to visit their respective centres for collection.
“Therefore, I am appealing to women who have registered and other eligible voters across the country to go to their wards or local government areas and collect their voter cards to enable them exercise their franchise in next year’s general election”, the NAWOJ chairperson added.
Commenting on the 19th Democracy Day anniversary of Nigeria, the Katsina State NAWOJ boss applauded President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Bello Masari for their ‘tremendous’ achievements within three years aimed at alleviating the plights of the electorate.
She stressed that it was a day the electorate would renew their supports and prayers for the leaders to succeed in meeting their yearnings and aspirations.
Jikamshi called on the women to reciprocate by remaining supportive and prayerful to the government policies and programmes, as well as appreciation to the various dividends of democracy provided to them.
