I Will Not Deviate from Fayose’s Populist Governance Style, Says Ekiti Deputy Governor

By Victor Ogunje in Ado Ekiti

The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for the July 14 governorship election, Prof Kolapo Olusola, has promised the electorate that he won’t deviate from the populist approach  to governance as exemplified in the leadership style of his boss, Mr Ayodele Fayose.

Olusola said  he would build on the relationship that had been laid by his principal with the people of the state by ensuring that their moods were adequately gauged  before siting any project.

He said he would be strategic in planning by consulting widely and know where the shoe pinches to know the exact project to site in any

town, assuring that this won’t be done arbitrarily the way the past administrations allegedly did.

He said these on Friday  while commissioning two blocks of market stalls and  four bore holes donated  to Ifaki Ekiti by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Modupe Alade.

Olusola lauded Alade for the projects, saying these were done in line with the grassroots approach adopted by Fayose in project execution in Ekiti.

“There is no way you can pass through Governor Fayose that you won’t value development. Mrs. Alade did these for his people based on request and that accounted for the popularity of our leader and his government.

“I want you to support our government in the coming election, so these good projects can continue. Let me assure you today, I will never derail or renege on the populist approach laid down by Governor Fayose

if you vote for us in the coming election”, he said.

Alade descended heavily on the immediate past government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi for scrapping the University of Science and Technology established by former governor Segun Oni in the community.

Alade also  upbraided Fayemi’s government  for

abolishing  the only radio station in the town, saying : “These will make our people resolute to vote for Prof. Olusola in this election.”

Alade promised that  she would continue to execute projects that would be in the corporate interest of the town to support Fayose’s government.

The SSG said she was motivated by the good work of Governor Fayose to give back to her community  by embarking on the projects that will be beneficial  to her people.

She said: “The market buildings were requested by my people when the market stalls in this market became inadequate. The boreholes were

also drilled to meet the water need of the people.

“Early last year, I empowered 900 youths in Ido Osi local government with some funds so as to make them self-reliant.

“I have also been giving social security and empowerment to aged people in the two wards in Ifaki Ekiti since my appointment three and

half years ago, who have been receiving financial benefit from me on monthly basis.

“Ifaki community is grateful to Governor Fayose for my appointment and that of the Chairman of Ido/Osi local government, Hon Tunde Aladegbami”.
