Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has emphatically said he did not make any promise to the people of the state during the governorship campaigns in 2015.

The governor also said that he has decided to seek reelection next year following clamour by various groups in the state for him to do so.

Bello made the remarks on Tuesday evening while meeting top media executives in the state for the first time since he became governor of the state in 2015.

“I did not make any promise while campaigning in 2015, one thing we did during our campaign was that we made sure we did not make promise to the people

“If we had promised heaven and earth we would have faced problems from the public because there were a lot of problems”

The governor continued that he did not make any promise to the people because “there was high expectation from the people and we realised the high expectation so we did not make promises”

Alhaji Bello said the administration was bugged down by poor revenue at inception to the extent that the income from the federation account at inception dropped to as low as N2 billion monthly. With this we could not do anything, we thank God we did not make any promise we would have not been able to fulfill any”

He disclosed that he would seek reelection on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC next year following the requests for him to seek a second term by people of goodwill from across the length and breadth of the state.
“We will go for reelection. It is good to have second term and by God’s grace, we will win” he declared.

Defending his decision, Bello said “a lot of things which we planted cannot mature in four years; we need more time to make them to come to fruition.

“We will appeal to Nigerlites to reelect us so that we can complete what we have started because I don’t feel accomplished”.

Governor Bello also said he decided to join other governors in the APC to ask President Muhammadu Buhari to run for second term because he ( Buhari) is laying a solid foundation for Nigeria
“We should support and encourage the president; because he means well for this country.

“Buhari is on a different level but people don’t understand him, he means well for Nigeria he is so passionate about Nigeria that he forgets himself, I am 100% with him” the governor declared.
