The Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State in 2015, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and the state party chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, yesterday recounted their ordeal in prison, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) has betrayed the trust of  Nigerians who voted them into power by infesting them with hunger, killings and untold hardship.

Both spoke in a separate solidarity visit by members of the party in their honour.
Orbih, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Imasuen, a former member of the House of Representatives, Tony Azegbemi and Efe Anthony spent last Thursday night in prison custody after they could not meet the bail conditions set by Justice P. I. Adjokwu.

They were arraigned on eight count charges of laundering the sum of N700m in 2015, believed to be part of the $115m Diezani Allison-Madueke took from the treasury to fund the 2015 general election.

They were released from custody at about 10:30p.m. on Friday night.
Addressing party supporters who paid him solidarity at his residence, Orbih said people who were sentenced to long years imprisonment later came out to rule the country, vowing to continue to advance the course of the common man.

Orbih added that the one night he and other spent in Benin Prison has elevated their status toAfrican statesmen.
According to him, “For the first time in the history of our state, documents that were not signed during the day were signed at 9:30p.m. The documents of Pastor Ize-Iyamu were declared missing.

“They did not sign his papers because they wanted him to stay for the weekend. You can plan evil but evil will be defeated.
“When you see any government using organs of government to oppress and intimidate opposition, you will know the end of that government is near.”

On his part, he and others were detained and released from the prison custody over an alleged N700 million money Laundering case in Benin City, saying the APC-led government is full of deceit and hypocrisy and has also promoted corruption across the length and breadth of the country, noting that the party failed to purge itself of its sinful act but has resulted to  pointing accusing fingers at others.

According to him, “They said, we collected money for presidential election. Who does not spend money for election? So APC did not spend money for election. They said if you give anybody more than N5million you are guilty of money laundering. I want APC to swear that they did not give their LGA chairmen or their ward chairmen money above N5million.

“The hypocrisy, lies and the deceit is too much. I want to tell you that corruption is worse in Nigeria. The insecurity, Fulani herdsmen are killing people, you cannot even go to the farms again and they want us to still vote for that government,” he said.
He said it was good that the APC was given the opportunity to prove their worth to Nigerians stressing that if they were not given the chance, one would have concluded that they should have been the Saviour that the country never had.

“Let me tell you, this government has failed. But you know, it was good that they came because if they had not come we will not know that they will fail so badly. at the federal level they have failed, in every state they have failed and God is saying they must not return.

“They must not return. I want all of you to get ready because this country belongs to all of us. All of us cannot leave this country for abroad and all of us will not die today. By the grace of God, our enemies will die and we will be here to bury them. We must rescue our people. We must rescue our country,” he said.
