It’s Baseless Comparing Us with PDP, Says Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo last night in Abuja said comparing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with the former government of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was baseless.

According to him, there is no basis comparing a government of just three years with the one that spent 16 years in power.
The vice-president who made this remark at the dinner and gala night organised  by the Presidency in commemoration of 2018 Democracy Day at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, said comparing a party that has spent only three years in power with the one that spent 16 years only showed that this government is doing well.

“We are not even yet three years yet, and we are being compared to some of our friends who had een there for 16 years. It means we are doing very well,” Osinbajo said.

He argued that in just three years, the achievements of the ruling APC has outweighed those of the 16 years of PDP.
Osinbajo who thanked God for the opportunity to serve Nigeria in his capacity as vice-president, said  if anyone had told him he would be vice-president five years ago, he wouldn’t have believed.

“Five years ago, if someone had told me that I would be vice-president, l would have doubted it. But here we are,”  he said.
In his welcome address, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, said Nigerians must begin to tell themselves the truth if the country must experience the desired change.

“It is high time we tell ourselves the truth for meaningful development and the real change that we all desire to happen,” he said.
The Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, at the event, presented members of Team Nigeria who participated at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia to the vice-president.

In attendance at the dinner were  former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Alpha Belgore, former Chief of General Staff, Lt. General Oladipo Diya (rtd.) and  ex-Chief of General Staff, Ebitu Ukiwe.
