The Chairman of the South-south Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr.  Seriake Dickson, has convened an emergency meeting of the forum to be hosted by the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, tomorrow.

There was no indication what the agenda of the meeting would centre on, but two key issues, it was learnt, might dominate the gathering which is expected to hold by 6p.m. at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The need for the region to speak with one voice concerning the country’s restructuring and the  withdrawal of the $1 billion Excess Crude Account (ECA) by the federal government without deducting and remitting the 13 per cent derivation to the oil-producing states might also form part of the discussions.

Also, the need to seek greater integration within the South-south in terms economy and security matters in the areas would come up during the meeting expected to be attended by all the six governors across political lines.

Dickson in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary,  Francis   Agbo, said all governors from the zone are to attend the meeting with their Attorneys-General and Commissioners for Justice.
“The meeting will centre on critical national issues that affect the well-being of the people of the South-south geo-political zone,” the statement concluded.
