Onu: Nigeria to Partner North Korea on Space Technology

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has said Nigeria will partner with North Korea in the area of Space and Information technology.

The Deputy Director of Press, Mr. AbdulGaniyu Aminu, in a statement wednesday, said the minister gave the hint when the Ambassador of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in Nigeria, Mr. Jon Tong Chol, paid him a courtesy call in his office.

Onu said North Korea had made giant strides in science and technology which could be of great benefits to Nigeria.

He stressed that Nigeria is now according science and technology its due recognition, adding that the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (2017-2020) is being driven by science and technology.

Onu stressed that the ministry is committed to effective and efficient utilisation of science and technology application to convert the enormous resources into products and services through a knowledge and innovation driven economy.

Earlier, Chol said Nigeria is well placed to explore development in science and technology for her development.

He lauded Nigeria’s leading role in the sub region and called for more bilateral relations between the two countries

Chol noted that North Korea could afford to rub shoulder with developed nations because it had developed her own satellite, nuclear and information technology to the maximum.
