Even as fighter jets continued to fly over Enugu State in the past 48 hours, the police in the coal city have announced the arrest of some members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM).

They were arrested for allegedly disrupting public peace in the state.
Some fighter jets have taken over Enugu Aerozone in the past two days, a situation that has made residents to live in fear.
A resident, Emma Uka, said he was worried at the rate about three fighter jets have been flying around Enugu since Monday, noting that rather than concentrate their energy in the North-east where Boko Haram insurgents have been terrorising the people, the jets were rather disturbing the peace of Enugu State.

Meanwhile, in a statement by the spokesman of Enugu Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, the police said the pro-Biafra agitators were arrested by the commands operatives  around Obiagu/Afia Nine axis of Ogui in Enugu State.
He advised residents to go about their lawful businesses without let or hindrance.

Amaraizu said the state Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Mohammed had “warned against any act or omission by any individual or group of persons under any guise capable of disrupting the existing peace in the state.”

He said the police commissioner warned that anybody or group of persons caught will be made to face the full weight of the law in accordance with the relevant sections of the law.
He said nobody should disturb public peace under the aegis of MASSOB/BIM and explained that the arrest was done within Enugu metropolis.

The PPRO said the police commissioner however used the opportunity to advise members of the public to be law abiding and go about their normal lawful businesses without fear of any intimidation or molestation as the commands operatives working in partnership with sister security agencies as well as relevant stake holders in the state will not condole any act or omission capable of disrupting the existing peace in the state under any guise.
