Students to Recycle Old documents During WED 2018

In commemoration of World Environment Day (WED) 2018, one of West Africa’s pioneer and mobile confidential Document shredding company, the Shred Station, will be visiting Primary and Secondary Schools in Lagos State with a message of environmental conservation.

A statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Shred Station, Tolu-Jaiyeola, said the week-long event themed: Save Environment, Save Future Generation, is aimed at ‘working with children in schools in Lagos to promote the need for protecting their information and the safe options for destruction when no longer required.

The statement also stated that the event would also focus on the little bits children can do to contribute to saving their immediate environment.

The statement added: “Our week-long plan is to demonstrate in reality the concept of reduce-reuse-recycle through paper. Our action is aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the number of trees felled. A ton of papers shredded and recycled into tissue and a related household product saves 17 trees.

“Each school which have registered through theshredstation@gmail.com before 25 May will be given a dedicated date within the week commencing 4 June when pupils will bring to school old confidential documents from home.

“We would then take to the school premises our marked Shredding Truck and the children will participate in shredding the documents. Once shredded, the documents are transported to a papermill for recycling to tissue. The Shred Station will facilitate a visit to the recycling plant for the children to view the process and the end product.”
