The Kano State Police Command has debunked media reports that the “Police launched probe, threaten bloggers arrest’’ over the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris’ trending video.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kano State, Magaji Musa Majia, in a statement yesterday said there was no attempt to question or intimidate journalists and bloggers.

Majia stated: “No Manhunt of any Journalist whatsoever by the Kano Police Command, please. The Command hereby debunks the news as false in its entirety and an act by mischief makers. No journalist was arrested nor invited by the Command for interrogation over the video clip.”

He said it was crystal clear that the Command maintains cordial relationship with the State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Correspondence Chapel and all bloggers.

He pointed out the fact that the Media outlets responsible for the report had their correspondents here in Kano but none consulted the Command to verify the news.
