With the 30-man provisional list of Coach Gerth Rohr of Super Eagles players for the World Cup already in the public domain, pundits have been reacting to the list with mixed feelings either of addition or subtraction in all departments. However in the defence line, Kenneth Omeruo looks set to play at the World Cup finals again after making his debut at the last edition in Brazil four years ago. In this report, Femi Solaja takes a look at what the Super Eagles’ strongman does off the field of play especially as he prepares to champion a World Cup Season campaign tagged ‘TASTE THE GOAL’ sponsored by Domino’s Pizza with the hashtag #tastethegoal.

Taste of Goal Project
From tomorrow, 20th May 2018, the Kasimpasa FC of Turkey defender would be involved in the campaign which comprises of a series of activities that includes  special appearance at a grass root football match at Yaba College of Technology between Turf Season FC sponsored by Domino’s Pizza and Current FC.
Aside the football match, the newly wedded Super Eagles defender would be involved in ‘Meet and Greet’ session. The FC Chelsea Loanee would be meeting with fans at select viewing centers where he would be giving free pizza and engaging with fans.
The session will enable hundreds of youths to tap into his own life story; that is from humble beginning, to global limelight.

From a Humble Beginning
Kenneth is a family man to the core. Whenever he is not at work in company of his team mates, the AFCON 2013 winner with Super Eagles is very much a family person. He loves being around his immediate family. He likes the chilled lifestyle, if not with family, then he is with very close friends playing video games.
With little or no passion for outings, young Omeruo as a professional footballer  is disciplined and love to adhere strictly to normal physical condition especially when it comes to diet routines.
Most often during off season, he tries as much as possible to maintain his normal physical condition. A close associate said “he  doesn’t  joke with his body which he sees as temple and off season, he loves to go with the same tempo in preparation for the season ahead because a little gap can make the difference,” remarked one of his associates last week.
Being lucky to have come from a footballing family makes rise to the top much easier for the lad who was born in Abia State. When he decided to embrace the round leather game was without hitch or drama from his family members. Kenneth’s older brother played football actively and when he decided to toe the same line, he promptly got their blessing.
The World Cup bound defender from his youthful days love watching a lot of football and just always dreaming of becoming a professional and being fortunate to have three brothers already in the profession made things very easy for him to reach the top.

Life and Style
Omeruo, nicknamed K.O with over 40 caps for Super Eagles, is a very conservative fellow when it comes to fashion. He doesn’t have too much of a style. Most often according to an associate “likes to be smart casual at the best of times and ensuring comfort is at the top of his look.  “It is very rare to see him in his native Igbo outfit despite the fact that he is a grassroot fellow. All he cares for is just to look good and not necessary gorgeous most of the time,” the associate remarked.

The Sports Personality of the Year 2016 by Screams All Youth Awards, has passion to keep dogs and values his childhood friends just like his immediate family. He is down to earth fellow and always looks out for others in need.
Aside having passion to help people around him, Omeruo has a long term vision, which is to establish a charity organisation that he hopes would transform people’s life.
He loves to hang out and socialise with friends when he is in a relaxed mood.
