Fear as Kidnappers Lay Siege on Dandume, Sabuwa

Residents of Dandume and Sabuwa Local Government Councils of Katsina State on Friday cried out over what they described as ‘incessant rate of kidnapping’ of its people in the areas. This is even as they appealed the Katsina State government and security agencies in the state to immediately come to their rescue. A resident of Dandume, Mallam Mohammad Dandume, who spoke in an exclusive interview with THISDAY said, peace had eluded the two local governments since the kidnappers laid siege to the areas, terrorising and abducting innocent citizens.

He said over the last few weeks no fewer than five persons had been brazenly abducted by the kidnap syndicate with several millions of naira demanded for their release. “This development has created morbid fears to residents in the areas while citizens and visitors wishing to come home are scared to do so in the fear that they may be abducted by these heartless gangsters. Most of the victims kidnapped were abducted in the broad day light while the police and other security agency in the area appear helpless as none of the perpetrators has been brought to book,” he said.
