A former Special Adviser to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Alhaji Jafar Sani Bello, has notified the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of his intention to contest for governor in Kano State come 2019 general election.

Bello declared his intention yesterday while submitting his intent letter for the contest to the leadership of the party.
He said: “I think it is time to bring into our politics new blood, new face, progressive thinking and most importantly, progressive change. For our state’s growth and development, we must adopt a progressive agenda in order to save our education, health and agriculture sectors from collapse.

It is unfortunate that our political leaders have turned politics into a source of enriching members of their families and few individuals at the detriment of the majority.

“For over 30 years, there has been no real push to develop the state to actively pursue and entice investors and business interests in developing our agricultural value chain to our state.”

Bello added that Nigerian political system was contaminated with sharp practices as money always determine who should be and who should not be devoid of merit.

Responding, the Deputy Chairman of PDP in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad, said the party had confidence in Bello, saying as young and vibrant politician, he could deliver the state if elected governor.
He said: “PDP will present credible candidates that will defeat the ruling party at all levels come 2019 general election.”
