Bauchi Gets 130 Megawatts of Electricity

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Tuesday commissioned a 60 MVA and 132/33KV power transformer in Bauchi State that would generate 130 megawatts of electricity to the state.
Speaking during the commissioning held at Bauchi Transmission substation located in Dumi Village, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Usman Gur Mohammed, said that the state would now enjoy improved power supply with the new transformer.
According to him, similar transformers had been installed in 18 other states in the country.
He said the federal government has approved the sum of N72 billion as electricity intervention fund aimed at boosting supply and stabilising the grid.
The TCN boss also commended the state Governor Mohammed Abubakar for providing land and paying compensation to the owners for the installation of the powerful transformer in the town.
Also speaking, the village head of Dumi, Alhaji Hussaini Muhammed, appealed to the government to connect some areas under his village such as, Gudum Fulani, Rusa and Sabuwar Dumi which had been experiencing power outage for over two years now.
In his remarks, Governor Abubakar said the installation of such transformer in the state by the TCN was a great development.
Abubakar, who opined that power is the bedrock of industrial development, assured the people of government’s readiness to expand the scope of collaboration between the state and TCN.
