Kano Pillars Beat Katsina Utd as Kwara Utd Draw with Niger Tornadoes

Kano Pillars FC defeated visiting Katsina United 3-1 on Sunday to earn the maximum points in a week 21 as Kwara United held Niger Tornadoes to a draw.

The results were from some of the matches played on Sunday in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The Kano pillars and Katsina match which was played at the Sani Abacha‎ Stadium in Kano was watched by large number spectators.

Kano Pillars’ striker Junior Lokosa opened scoring in the eighth minute, while Nwagua Nyima doubled the lead in the 37th minute of the entertaining encounter.

Lokosa scored the third goal of the match in the match 48th minute to increase his season’s tally to 18 goals from 20 games.

Destiny Ashade scored a consolation goal in the 57th minute.

Visiting Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin also held Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna to a 1-1 draw in Match Day 21 fixture.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Segun Alebiosu scored for the visitors 25 minutes into the first half of the match played at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium in Minna.

Henry Frimpong drew Niger Tornadoes level 18 minutes into the second half.

Coach Abubakar Bala of Kwara United, who is a former Niger Tornadoes coach, later said he was in Minna to secure the maximum three points for the club.

He however said it was unfortunate that they could only get a draw.

“Anyway I am happy with the draw because my boys put in their best,’’ the coach said.

Also, coach Hamza Abara of Niger Tornadoes acknowledged that Kwara United was a tough side, adding however that with determination they could be defeated.

“In football, it is difficult for you to be a champion and also difficult for you to remain a champion.

“Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose,’’ he said.(NAN)
