As a way of mending fences and reducing the post-primary crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the  governorship candidate of the party and Minister of Mines and Steel Development , Dr Kayode Fayemi, has visited some of the bigwigs who contested against him in last Saturday’s governorship primary in Ekiti State.

This was as the former governor  cautioned his supporters against harbouring any ill feelings towards his co-contestants and their supporters, saying that they are all leaders who should be accorded great respect in view of their sterling qualities and contributions to the party.

The minister who was accompanied by APC Ekiti State Chairman, Chief Jide Awe, and some chieftains of the party visited Mr. Segun Oni at his Ifaki-Ekiti country home early yesterday morning.

Thereafter, he visited Hon Femi Bamisile, another aspirant and former Speaker of the state House of Assembly at his Ado-Ekiti residence.

Fayemi also visited Mr. Kola Alabi and Dr. Wole Oluyede,  at their respective residences in Ikere –Ekiti as well as Senator  Gbenga Aluko at his Ode-Ekiti country home.

Fayemi, stated this while addressing his supporters at the headquarters of his campaign office, shortly after he emerged as the APC standard bearer for the July 14 governorship election.

The APC candidate noted that the activities of all the aspirants in the past few months had further strengthened the party, adding that any of the aspirants would have made a better governor than any candidate the PDP could present.

“We are one big family.  We cannot all win in an election. But one thing I know is that all the contestants are eminent Ekiti sons and daughters who are qualified to govern  the state better than the present occupier of the office.

“Therefore as we go into the election, we must see ourselves as members of the same family who deserve mutual respect. No more social media and verbal attacks henceforth. Our only enemy is the PDP.”

Meanwhile, former federal parliamentarian and chieftain of the APC, Opeyemi Bamidele, has congratulated  Fayemi on his emergence as the party’s standard bearer for the July 14 governorship poll.

Bamidele predicted a smooth victory for the APC in the coming election, reminding that this would only be attainable with unity of purpose and cohesiveness within the party’s ranks.

In a statement he personally signed  on the victory, Bamidele prayed for divine wisdom and wherewithal for the former governor to be able to record success in the task God has again placed on his shoulders.

He described Fayemi as a consummate politician with vast experience in administration, being a former governor and serving minister, exuding confidence that the Minister will deliver and bring the lost glory ofthe party back in the coming election.

He urged him and other party leaders to immediately initiate a fence-mending move to pacify all the aggrieved and unite all the existing caucuses within the party for the dream to reclaim Ekiti from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to come to fruition.
