Delta Congress Peaceful, Says Omo Agege

The senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege, has described the All Progressives Congress, local government Congress held in Delta State as very peaceful.

The Senator, who spoke to journalists in reaction to the congress on Saturday, said he was happy that contrary to what happened in neighbouring Rivers State, progressives in Delta conducted themselves very well throughout the period the exercise held.

“The congress has come and gone. We are happy with the outcome. Our supporters and those affiliated with us have come victorious”, he enthused.

The senator expressed his gratitude to all the Chairmen and members of the LG executive who emerged from the Congress and congratulated state delegates that were also elected.

“Also those who emerged as state delegates from the national delegate, my congratulations to them. I also wish to congratulate the state led executive under Prophet Jones Erue, for the leadership it provided. There was little or no violence”, he said. He implored the local government executives elected to manage the affairs of their party in Delta’s 25 local government areas.

While commending the Sani Dododo-led congress committee from Abuja for keeping to the constitution in carrying out their duties, the senator described as fruitless, efforts of some persons who held parallel congresses in the state. He however believes “that everything will be sorted out in due time and the renegades will return to the path of due process and rule of law.
