A youth group under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) known as Benue PDP Youth Wing (BPYW) has challenged the party and other political groups to give the ticket of their parties to youthful and energetic young people who would steer the affair of the country in the right direction.

It also frowned on the attitude of political parties recycling politicians that are above fifty years and have ran out of ideas to manage the country.

In a press statement signed by the group’s coordinator Tersugh Lyman said the young people were not lazy and would not continue to fold their hands while the elderly people would continue to drag down the progress of the country.

He called on the leadership of the PDP and the electorate in Benue State to allow a young person to emerge as governor of the state in 2019.

“In the history of Nigeria and Benue state in particular, young people below fifty years have done very well as governor and we are disposed to work with a younger aspirant.”

The group also stated that it will be fatal for the political parties to jettison the youths at the time the focus of the world is to see younger people emerge as President.

“Some countries are cutting down ages of their leaders and Nigeria must follow what others are doing if we really want to grow as a nation”, it said.
