The All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Congress was conducted peacefully across Sokoto State Saturday.
THISDAY checks in Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Wamakko and several other local government areas revealed that the exercise was conducted through consensus devoid of violence.
It was gathered that at the end of the exercise in Wamakko Local Government Area of the state, a 27-man executive committee was peacefully elected.
The secretary of the electoral committee deployed to monitor the exercise in Sokoto State from the national headquarters of the party, Alhaji Kabiru Zarewa, expressed happiness with the successful conduct of the exercise.
According to Zarewa, the delegates and the members of the party from the local government area led by Senator Aliyu Wamakko deserved commendation.
The chairman of the electoral committee dispatched to monitor the election in the local government area from the state headquarters of the party, Dr Jabbi Kilgori, who is also the Commissioner for Higher Education, also lauded the peaceful disposition of all the delegates.
The Chairman of Wamakko Local Government area, Alhaji Bello Buba Kaurar Kimba, said APC in the area is one and united.
The exercise was attended by Senator Wamakko representing Sokoto North Senatorial District and the House of Representatives member representing Wamakko and Kware Federal Constituency, Alhaji Ahmad Kalambaina.
Others who witnessed the exercise were serving and former state and National Assembly members, party elders, as well as chieftains, among others.
Similarly, in Sokoto North, chairman of the Electoral Committee dispatched to monitor the election from the state headquarters of the party, Alhaji Arzika Tureta, told journalists that the executive members emerged through consensus without any acrimony.
The exercise was monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), and the various security agencies, Â among others.
