The Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has said there is no conflict between communities in Sokoto and Zamfara States, adding that relations have remained cordial despite demarcations.
Tambuwal stated this while receiving the Director General, National Boundary Commission (NBC), Dr. Muhammad Ahmad, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Sokoto Friday.
He maintained that there was no conflict between the people of the two states, as they are one and of the same race.
Tambuwal however noted that despite the mutual coexistence between the people of the two states, there exist boundary issues which he expressed delight that the commission was making efforts to resolve once and for all.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the governments of the two states to implement the resolutions reached at the meeting.
The governor to this end commended the deputy governors of Sokoto and Zamfara States for their commitment towards ensuring harmonious co-existence between the people of the two states.
Earlier, the Director General of NBC, Dr. Ahmad, said the meeting was not meant for the discussion of boundary dispute but to ensure that the two states were properly delineated and demarcated.
He said a committee of experts had been set up to determine the boundaries between Shinkafi and Isa, Kebbe and Gummi as well as Tureta and Bakura Local Government Areas at the time of the creation of Zamfara State.
Ahmad to this end, expressed gratitude to the Sokoto State Government for its support for the activities of the commission.
