Buhari Seeks Senate Confirmation of Keyamo, Others for NDIC Council

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate seeking the confirmation of the spokesman of his campaign organisation, Mr. Festus Keyamo,  as a member of the governing council of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

Keyamo is to occupy the slot for Delta State on the governing council.
Mr. Olabode Akeem Mustapha (Ogun State) was nominated as the Chairman of the governing council.
The president in a letter read at the plenary by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, yesterday, also sought the confirmation of five other members.

They are Garba Buba (Bauchi), Bello Garba (Sokoto), Joseph O.J Okalogu (Enugu), Mustapha Adewale Mudashiru (Kwara ) and Adewale W. Adeleke (Ondo).
“In compliance with section 5 (4) of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Act 2006, it is my pleasure to forward to the distinguished senate, the under listed nominees for confirmation as chairman and members of NDIC. Their CVs are attached,” the letter read.

Buhari in a separate letter, also sought the confirmation of Mr. Ateru Garba Madami as a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Madami is from Niger State.
“In accordance with the provision of section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, I write to forward to the senate the name of Ateru Garba Madami for confirmation as a replacement for Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Niger State. The CV of the nominee is attached herewith,”

“It would be recalled that the Senate had earlier rejected the initial nominee on the ground that he hails from the same local government area and senatorial district with a serving national commissioner,” the letter read.
