The Bauchi State Governor, Muhammad Abubakar has approved a total of N144,792,922.47 for the implementation of the backlog promotion of teachers in the 20 local government areas of the state.

The Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Yahaya Yero, who announced this in an interactive session with executives of the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), said 21,457 teachers will benefit from the implementation of the backlog promotion, beginning from 2012 to 2017

According to him, since 2012, teachers in the state have not been promoted and the board deems it necessary to constitute some committees to provide lasting solution.

He urged teachers to reciprocate the gesture by being committed in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Responding, the state NUT Chairman, Danjuma Saleh, who described the gesture as a welcome development, said it would alleviate the hardship being faced by the beneficiaries.

He said the union has commenced the training of its members to enable them provide quality education for students.

Saleh therefore called for regular supervision of teachers to ensure attitudinal change among them in the discharge of their responsibilities.
