A governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Mr. Muhammad Jibrin Barde, has decried the non-payment of salaries and allowances of workers in the state civil service by Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, noting that workers are now starving and dying over the callousness and insensitivity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led administration in the state.
In a statement signed by the Head of his Media Office in Gombe, Mr. Jonathan Justice, The aspirant wondered why the meager pay that are due civil servants in the state are being delayed in spite of the billions accruable to the state in forms of federal allocations, bail outs and other refunds coupled with internally generated revenues that goes into the state coffers.
While sympathizing with the people on their plights occasioned by the recklessness and insensitivity of the Dankwambo led administration, Barde urged the people to stand up for their rights by making good use of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in order to vote the PDP out in the forthcoming election in the state and install a sensitive, humane and compassionate governor who would feel their pulse and ensure that all that are due them and more are paid as at when due.
The statement reads in parts: “I am bitter that even as at today, Gombe workers have not been paid their salaries and allowances and as a result, the workers are starving with no money to take care of themselves and their families while the sick are dying and the misery is continuing.
“This is so appalling and irresponsible because the welfare of the people should be a top priority to any responsive government. While I feel the pains and agonies of my people, I urge you all to be steadfast and be determined to vote out this callous government that does not want you to enjoy the fruitage of your labours.
“I want to assure you that an APC administration under me and my team would usher in a new lease of life that will bring relief to all of you both young and old, men and women, orphans and widows and all categories of peopleâ€.
