Former National Chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Sheriff has reached a truce with his political godson, Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima.

Sheriff, who was a predecessor to Shettima, left the All Progressives Party (APC) for the PDP during the last general elections, when the relationship with his successor became irreparable.

Sheriff, who recently lost the chairmanship of the PDP, during the week was reported to have retraced his step back to the APC, a Party he had contributed towards its establishment.

At a parley with stakeholders in Borno State on Friday, the former Borno Governor called on all supporters of the party in the state to unite and shun selfish interest, and contribute their part towards the success of the party at the 2019 general elections.

At the meeting at the Government House Maiduguri which had in attendance, the state governor and all stakeholders of the party, Sheriff said, ” I rejoined my great party, APC following the misunderstanding we had in PDP when I was the National Chairman, but I have to come back home and rejoin the APC which is the party I helped to form in the past.

“I am joining APC as an ordinary member, and I want to call on all and sundry to support the leadership of Governor Kashim Shettima and APC in the state.”

Also speaking at the occasion, which was also used to address all stakeholders ahead of the State Congress slated to hold on Saturday (today), Governor Kashim Shettima enjoined all the delegates to elect credible leaders so as to move the ruling APC forward.

He insisted that as Governor, he would not interfere with the Congress, as he did not have any particular candidate at heart, but prayed for God to elect credible and selfless leaders.

Sheriff was sighted at the Borno Government House, Maiduguri at about 10:30 am. He went straight into the meeting.

The embattled former PDP chairman, it was learnt recently rejoined the APC with thousands of his supporters.
