20th Milo Secondary School Basketball

The national finals of the 20th edition of the Milo Secondary School Basketball will begin today at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
At a press conference to herald the championship, Managing Director, Nestle Nigeria, Mr. Mauricio Alarcon, said the company has been in the forefront of sports development in Nigeria in the last 20 years.
“We have used Milo Basketball Championship and other sports as a metaphor to help children imbibe the values that help them to be successful in life. This is because we believe that sports provide opportunities for the development of qualities that set the foundations for a child’s future,” Alarcon said.

According to the President of the Nigeria School Sports Federation, NSSF, Mallam Ibrahim Muhammad, Nestle Nigeria has made a landmark achievement in building a bright future for our youths through the development of sports in Nigeria, particularly in the support and promotion of basketball in schools. The continual increase in the number of participating schools, serves as evidence.
“For 20 remarkable years, the nestle milo brand has been championing the development of grassroots basketball in the country. The championship has been a potent platform for exposing and harnessing the enormous potentials of young Nigerian students and integrating them into the mainstream of basketball,” the NSSF boss said.
The national finals will come up tomorrow and ends on May 10.
