SESSPN Calls for Development Plan in States

South-East South-South Professionals of Nigeria (SESSPN) has said it is on a mission to help stimulate social-economic development for indigenes in the 11 states.

The group, which announced this after a business and professional roundtable meeting in Lagos, stressed the need for development plan that would among other things identify key areas of collaboration among the states as well as areas of comparative advantage.

The members made up of professionals from all spheres of the economy took turns to express disappointment on the level of development in the region.

They however, submitted that the regions’ growth sustainability would depend on civic integration that would be driven by professionals that would help create the discourse for the various state governments for new governance, economic order.
President of the association, Denzil Kentabe, noted that the level of development in the area is not complimentary of the regions contribution to the economy of Nigeria.

“As a group, we are particular about development and we are ready to identify opportunities for improvement in the two regions, to move the zones to another higher level.

“Members are made up of people who had success stories; people who are competent in all sectors of the economy; so it is all about regional integration that will be driven by competent personalities,” he noted.
In his remarks, Okey Nwuke Chairman organising committee, dismissed insinuations that the group is not politically motivated.

“We are interested in politics but as an advisory, we will serve as a watchdog for constructive engage with governments at all level that will help drive national and regional dialogue that will shape policy and economic development on the development of our region,” Nwuke noted.
