ATBU Bauchi to Graduate 8,495 as 118 Obtain First Class

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi has unveiled its plan to graduate 8,495 students on May 12, 2018.

This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof, Saminu Abdurahman Ibrahim in a press briefing at the ATBU Gubi Campus in Bauchi yesterday on the activities of the combined 23rd to 25th convocation ceremony.
The breakdown of the graduands are 480 for diplomas, 5,637 for first degree, 1,580 for PGD, 770 for Masters and 90 for PhDs.

Out of 5,637 first degree graduands, 118 obtained first class, 1,618 got second class upper, 2.609 for second class lower, 1,431 got third class and 61 got pass.

He said the convocation lecture would hold on Friday, May 11, 2018 and the lecture titled “Enhancing Industry University Collaboration to support Nigeria Local Content in industrialisation and economic growth” would be delivered by the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr, Maikanti Kachalla Baru at Yelwa campus of the institution

The vice chancellor added that the convocation lecture will be chaired by a former Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Abubakar Sani Sambo.

Enumerating the achievements of the university, Prof Abduraham Ibrahim said the institution had kicked off its College of Medical Science, adding that 41 students were admitted in the college during 2016/2017 section while 47 students were admitted in 2017/2018 section.

Other achievements according to the vice chancellor are construction of additional three hostels in Gubi campus and two in Yelwa campus of the university to ease the problem of accommodation in the Institution.

According to him, “We also constructed 250-capacity auditorium, 160-capacity studio and Yelwa campus water scheme. About 490 academic staff of the university were supported to acquire PhD.
