Kidnapped Ekiti PDP Chieftain Regains Freedom

Abducted State Financial Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Oni, has regained his freedom from his captors. Oni, was kidnapped last Saturday between Efon and Erio road while on his way to Aramoko, the headquarters of Ekiti West Local Government.

He had gone to Efon to conduct the party’s local government congress in the town and was on his way home in his car with his grandson when he was abducted by gunmen.

Nobody could confirm if any ransom was paid for Oni’s released, but his captors initially demanded for N30 million and later reduced it to N10 million.

The Police Commissioner, Ekiti Command, Mr. Abdullahi Chafe confirmed Oni’s abduction, saying the police will do everything to ensure he returns safely.

The PDP spokesman in Ekiti , Mr. Jackson Adebayo, confirmed the release of Oni to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, saying he was let off the hook Tuesday night.

However, he was silent on whether any ransom was paid by the party or the victim’s family before he was released from the kidnappers’
den.
