The Institute of Directors Nigeria (IoD), has called on directors to take the issue of health fitness seriously, while calling for increased participation after the first fitness exercise of the year.

Speaking at a fitness programme held in Lagos recently, tagged: ‘Walk 4 Life’ and organised by the institute, the President of the Institute, Mr. Rufai Mohammed, said they were passionate about the health well-being of directors, stating that this set of workers and executives of companies don’t create time from their busy schedules for exercise.

He said that the essence of the programme is to allow directors have a day off to walk over a very long distance and to be able exercise their body, adding that the activity plays a major role in keeping an individual in good shape physically and mentally.
According to him, “most directors sit for a long while in the office, they are confronted with a lot of work challenges which gives a lot of stress, they hardly have no time to exercise, to actually do something that will bring well-being into the body because they are busy in office, at board room, at meetings almost all day long most times.”

Also speaking, the Director General of the institute, Mr. Dele Alimi, said the focus of the exercise was about the health and the well-being of directors.
