Symposium to Mark Adesanya’s Remembrance

A symposium on ‘Leadership and the future of Nigeria’ to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of the late elder statesman and pro-democracy activist, Chief Abraham Adesanya, will take place on May 2 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Former Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, is guest speaker, while contributing speakers are Chief John Nwodo, General Zamani Lekwot, Prof Banji Akintoye and Mrs. Doyinsola Abiola. 

Former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), is expected to chair the occasion. 

A thanksgiving service will follow on May 6 at St. John’s African Church, Oke Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State. The remembrance will also feature the launching of a book of tributes.

A statement by the Chairman of the Publicity Committee, Prof Adebayo Williams, described Adesanya who died at 85 on April 27, 2008, as “a great Nigerian nationalist, exemplary Yoruba patriot and leader, statesman, philosopher, moral avatar and illustrious Chairman of the Afenifere and National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).
