Former Minister, Hassan Lawal Dies at 64

Former Minister of Labour and Productivity, and later Works and Housing, Dr. Hassan Lawal, has died at the age of 64, a family source told THISDAY yesterday.

According to the source, the deceased passed on at about 8:30 p.m. last Saturday at a Turkey Hospital in Abuja after a protracted illness.

Late Lawal was appointed a federal minister  in 2004 by former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was equally retained in that capacity by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2017.

Similarly, former President, Goodluck Jonathan, appointed late Lawal as the Minister of Works and Housing on December 17, 2008.

His remains were laid to rest yesterday at the Kofar Hausa Cemetery in Keffi, headquarters of Keffi Local Government Area of  Nasarawa State, by 2p.m. according to Islamic rites.
