INEC Cautions Politicians against Inducing Youths with Money to Collect Voter Cards

By Mohammed Aminu in Sokoto
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sokoto State, has cautioned  politicians in the state against inducing eligible youths with money in order to obtain their voter cards.
Head of Voter Education Unit of the Commission in the state, Malam Muhammad Musa, stated this during a chat with journalists in Sokoto at the weekend.
Musa, who said this will give room for money collection during the forthcoming 2019 elections, added that such acts are against the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He stated that the ongoing voter registration exercise in the state was meant for those who do not have voter cards and were above the age of 18.
Musa maintained that the current exercise was not meant for those who had already registered in the last exercise, adding that there is the need for those eligible for the voter card to be patriotic and ensure they protect it for their own good.
