Sokoto State Police Command, has arrested five suspects including two staff of a new generation bank in Sokoto who specialised in the issuance of fake national identity cards to customers of the bank in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Cordelia Nwiwe, made the disclosure during a press briefing at the police headquarters in Sokoto on Friday.
She said the two accounting officers of the bank, Mudassiru Taofeeq and Perez Percy usually assist intending customers who want to open an account in securing a fake national identity card after collecting N4000. The PPRO explained that one Nasiru Bello from Bodinga local government area had two weeks ago visited Sokoto to open a bank account but was told to provide a national Identity card by the bank officers.Â
