Army Denies Role in Demolition of APC Factional Secretariat

The Nigeria Army has faulted a report alleging that it provided security to those who demolished the factional secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.

It stated that none of its personnel was on ground during the demolition as reported.

According to a letter signed by its lawyers, Prof. Musa Yakuba (SAN); Maj. Gen. Garba Audu (rtd) and Abdulwahab Muhammed, and dated February 21, 2018, faulting the report, the army stated that its officiers were neither involved nor anywhere close to the scene of the demolition.

It also stated that the army is constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of defending the country from internal and external aggression “and as such can never get involved in mundane issues such as property demolition on account of politics.”
