If there was any doubt that all was not well with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a recent protest letter by a national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, a man who was recently handed the task of re-uniting the party by President Muhammadu Buhari, is the evidence needed to verify such a doubt. Tinubu didn’t mince words, when days ago he accused the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, of sabotaging his peace efforts, not to say the least that the duo had since fell out over conflicting interests.
Pronto, Odigie-Oyegun too had immediately met with Buhari to state his case. Although details of the closed-door meeting between Buhari and Odigie-Oyegun are yet to be availed members of the public, what is clear from the events of the last few days is that all is not well with the APC, unfortunately at the highest level.
Sadly, however, this appears APC’s last-ditch effort at rescuing itself from self-destruct or as it is commonly said, implosion. This is the time for Tinubu and Oyegun to rise above sentiments and put their differences aside if they genuinely desire to get the party back on track.
